Dan Wheeler, Transpro Burgener’s Director of Safety and Compliance, has been awarded the Rodman C. Stewart Memorial Leadership Award.
The award, which recognizes individuals in the ready mixed and aggregates industry that have made superior and substantial contributions to his or her company or to the industry’s efforts toward proactive, safe operating practices, is presented by the Colorado Ready Mixed Concreate Association and the Colorado Stone, Sand and Gravel Association.
“It is an honor because I know how much hard work the team members have put into the safety program, and it has paid off,” says Wheeler. “I’m very proud of our leadership team’s commitment to safety and wellness. We have the best drivers, mechanics, and support staff we could ask for. Proactive safety practices create a work environment that allows them all to go home every night, whole and healthy, to be with their family and friends.”
David Schneider, Transpro Burgener CEO, says the award is very well-deserved. “Dan has led Transpro’s strive to excellence in Safety with some amazing improvements over the last two years,” he says. “Dan has such a passion to keep our employees and the public safe, the results and culture he has built is transformational. Dan refuses to compromise when it comes to keeping our employees and the public we serve as safe as possible. His passion for safety and caring for employees is genuine and not just a job.”
The award, says Schneider, reflects how much Transpro Burgener – which has been in business for more than 70 years – values safety overall.
“It has always been my goal to have Transpro be the safest in our industry since coming here two years ago. It’s been a long road to get us here and Dan has been a key driver of our results.”
It’s an honor not just for Wheeler, but for the company as a whole.
“It shows that all of our efforts are being recognized, not just Dan,” explains Schneider. “Our results speak for themselves, because of leaders like him.”
While Schneider is proud of Wheeler’s accomplishment, he insists the company’s approach to safety doesn’t stop here; it’s a never-ending pursuit that will allow the company to remain a leading player in the safety sphere. “Transpro will never be satisfied with our Safety Culture we have established. We will always continue to strive to improve our Safety Culture every day. It is that important to us!”
